Strengthen your enamel, remineralize your teeth, repair/reverse cavities, reduce plaque buildup, address bad breath, and most importantly - boost the quality of your oral microbiome with this non-foaming eggshell and tallow toothpaste. Note -  it is not a powder! It is an actual paste, but does NOT foam.

Use this as a daily toothpaste, or one you use at night. I like to use it at night, and then crunch up the remaining eggshell pieces in my teeth so my teeth can be immersed in a mineral and saturated fat-rich zone all night. Pair this toothpaste at night with some mouth tape to prevent mouth breathing all night -- A RECIPE TO REVERSE CAVITIES, GUM DISEASE, BAD BREATH, AND GENERAL ORAL UNHEALTH. Eating real, unprocessed foods is also essential to achieve a healthier mouth.

Read more below about why a saturated fat is so great for our body and mouth, and why eggshells are so special.

PRODUCT DETAILS:

Ingredients (5): Hand made grass-fed/finished beef tallow, cold-pressed organic coconut oil, organic pasture raised local Utah eggshell powder, baking soda, and organic ceylon cinnamon.

The magic of this paste is not only the eggshell powder, but that it is based in a saturated fat - tallow and coconut oil.

Why eggshells?: It is an amazing source of natural hydroxyapatite. In our body, hydroxyapatite is present in bones and teeth; bone is made primarily of hydroxyapatite crystals interspersed in a collagen matrix— hydroxyapatite makes up over 90% of the foundation of your tooth's enamel and 60% of our bones. Key word is "natural". I would not trust a toothpaste that has hydroxyapatite produced in a synthetic way.

Why a Saturated fat?: The mouth is the gateway to the body. Besides spinal integrity, bone density, or grip strength, one of the biggest signs of excellent health and life longevity is a healthy mouth, teeth and gums. When you have oral disease, you will inevitably have disease elsewhere in the body as well.

The quality of our oral health is based on the quality of our saliva. Healthy saliva produces a healthy mouth. What determines the quality of our saliva is the bacteria that live inside our mouth (the oral microbiome). And the types of bacteria we host in our mouth is largely determined by DIET, ORAL CARE ROUTINE and how we BREATHE (mouth breathing = a recipe or dental decay, a blog post for another day). Good, and health-promoting bacteria are attracted to saturated fats and protein, whereas bad bacteria have a proclivity for carbohydrates (sugars).

Why doesn’t it foam or have essential oils, minty flavor or sweeteners? Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) is the usual foaming agent in toothpaste, which causes issues inside of the mouth. SLS disrupts the oral microbiome and also sloughs off the inner lining of the cheek tissue. SLS can cause irritation, allergic reactions and a drying effect.

Essential oils are great and have their time and place, but long-term exposure to oils can often lead to a microbiome disruption, whether it’s oils in your toothpaste or moisturizer. Plants are natural astringents, and have amazing antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, but can not only affect and remove "bad bacteria", but can also do the same to our "good" bacteria. There is a microscopic world living in us, on us and around us, and we need to really cultivate the best microbiome to give ourselves a chance and true and optimal health.

When it comes to sweeteners, especially ones used in tooth pastes, most use something called a sugar alcohol. The most popular is xylitol. Other sugar alcohols are mannitol, sorbitol, lactitol, isomalt, maltitol, etc. These are synthetic and processed sugars that are known to be not only gut microbiome disruptors (disrupts quorum sensing), but oral microbiome disruptors as well. Though its not a sugar alcohol, I also feel the same about stevia, and think it is not natural or healthy, as it takes chemicals, solvents and an indistrial process to produce, just like sugar alcohols.

-----------------------

A diet heavy in protein and fat, especially saturated fat, in my humble, omnivorous opinion, compared to modern processed carbohydrate-rich diet we see today with common processed foods, not only is great for our internal workings, but these protein and saturated at rich diets cultivates a really healthy mouth.

Eat saturated fats. Moisturize with saturated fats. Brush with saturated fats. A saturated fat, esp tallow, is a very stable fat and has proven itself for hundreds of years as a health promoting, healing animal product.
